Failsafe Industrial Motor Brake
Being offered is a Utility Patent for a fail safe externally-mounted motor brake for use with relatively large industrial motors having brake drums to accommodate them. They are particularly useful for electric hoist motors as used with large industrial cranes. The motor brake is virtually maintenance free, which sets itself apart from OEM brakes. On OEM or other alternative braking systems, adjustment or replacement of parts is performed continuously, requiring significant manpower and machinery downtime. This motor brake includes features which provide long life and ease of maintenance offering significantly lower maintenance cost, less downtime, and “fail-safe” operation than alternative brakes. This product is constructed with stainless steel moving parts, sealed bearings, specialty brake shoes and linings, and can be fabricated to fit any size motor. This motor brake will stop and hold a heavy load more effectively than the standard manufacturer-installed brakes. It is important to emphasize that this brake provides the ability to suspend critical lifts without slipping or fear of having equipment failure, thereby providing a safer environment. The market for this product includes industrial plants, power plants, refineries, paper mills, steel mills, plastics and aluminum plants, manufacturing and fabricating facilities, foundries, construction and oilfield-related companies, and ship channels. While there is competition in this brake space, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Commission found this product to be superior to other brakes and the only motor brake referenced as “fail-safe.” There are six Model Numbers to accommodate any size of equipment to be fitted.
