ABSTRACT:
Peter Lichty, Dan Lunsford, Genevieve Pastor-Cohen, Bob Ngim, and Linda Smith have developed a storage device that protects first aid supplies but maintains access for emergencies or other events. In addition, when accessed (using an employee identification code or device), the invention triggers messages and/or alarms notifying the organization of an event. This communication potentially allows for initiation of an emergency response, notification of management of an event and identification of the employee involved, checking of stored supplies for possible replenishment, etc. This device is best suited for any business wishing to provide reliable access to emergency supplies and using centrally controlled employee identification-triggered access devices, such as building card readers, personal identification number access pads, etc.
