Squish Mixer for Diesel Engines

Introduction Mixing of fuel and air occurs in vortices. The key to reducing the emissions of diesel engines is generating better vortices for mixing. Technology description Researchers at the UW have developed an improved configuration to generate the optimum vortex for mixing in diesel engines using squish and carefully shaped orifices. Business opportunity The cost of gasoline and diesel is continuing to climb. This technology will enable optimal burning of fuel, which will result in both lower emissions and increased mileage in automobiles. Stage of development Initial data exist for this technology. Intellectual property position This technology is available for licensing. The UW is currently reviewing this technology for worldwide patent protection.
