Cold Extrusion of Aluminium

Recycling of aluminium is highly energy efficient compared to making virgin metal, but still the recycling process can be improved upon. By avoiding the problems related to melting of scrap aluminium, even more energy can be saved and more material can be recycled (less loss to oxidation).

DESCRIPTION NTNU researchers have investigated cold welding for a number of years, and technology developed for this has spun off a method that is believed to be reliable for transforming aluminium scrap into extruded profiles.
