Genetically Engineered "Down Syndrome" Mice

We used chromosome engineering to create mice that have the extra genes in a ?critical region? proposed to cause Down syndrome. These mice can be assessed for mental retardation as well as problems that occur in the heart, gut, muscle, immune, and skeletal systems that occur in Down syndrome Description (Set) Proposed Use (Set) These mice can be used to test therapies for Down syndrome as well as investigate the underlying mechanisms that cause them.
