Super Miniaturized Addressable Reconfigurable Technology (SMART) (GSC-SMART)

Abstract:
SMART is the objective of a three-tiered effort to develop a new kind of structural material that can change its form to optimize its function or to adapt to contingencies. In near-term applications, humans can control the reconfiguration of the active structural elements via teleoperation. In the future, an integrated synthetic neural system will autonomously control, adapt and evolve system functions based on the operational environment to fulfill mission objectives.
