Thermal Dependent Injectable Polymer Matrix

Technology

The technology is a novel drug delivery polymer matrix comprising an inverse thermal gelling polymer with an anionic polymer. This polymer matrix is faster gelling than each of the separate components and it provides a drug delivery vehicle for many applications. The anionic polymers interact highly with the solvent, thereby decreasing the gelation temperature of the inverse thermal gelling polymer. This results in a more mechanically stable gel that is injectable due to the shear thinning properties of the polymer.

The product is being developed for spinal cord injury as there are no other competitive products in this market segment. This technology has the potential for application in other large market as well, such as osteoarthritis and bone cancer.
