Environmental and Analytical Chemistry Laboratory

Objective/function

The laboratory is active two major avenues of research:
Investigation of the formation of volatile organo-sulfur compounds in natural aquatic systems. These compounds affect cloud nucleation, ozone hole formation and global warming. Research is currently focused on the formation mechanisms of dimethylsulfide (DMS), its related substrates and carbonyl sulfide. Development of analytical and bioelectrochemical diagnostic tools based on advanced materials and sol-gel technology for the production of glasses and metal oxides from colloidal solutions. Modified glasses are used for optical and electrochemical diagnostics. Advantages

The Laboratory of Environmental Chemistry is staffed by highly-trained, experienced researchers using the most up-to-date equipment and technologies Available equipment

State-of-the-art chromatography equipment, including LC/MS and GC/MS
