PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photocatalytic material which can be obtained at a low cost without using platinum and can particularly be responsive even to visible light and to provide a method for manufacturing the photocatalytic material. ; SOLUTION: The photocatalytic material comprises tungsten oxide and tungsten carbide and, particularly, comprises the tungsten oxide being in contact with the tungsten carbide.
