Archaeal Plasmid Vector System

The present invention relates to an archaeal plasmid vector system comprising: I) one or more selectable marker gene(s) for selection in archaea, and II) at least one component selected from the group consisting of: a) an archaeal origin of replication, b) a homology region to an archaeal chromosome, c) a gene coding for a molecule conferring the ability to integrate the vector into an archaeal chromosome, and d) the gene orf904; wherein the genes of the plasmid vector do not allow an assembly of a functional virus particle. Further, the present invention relates to a plasmid vector system comprising: I) the gene orf904, and II) one or more selectable marker gene(s); wherein the vector is non-integrative. Moreover, the present invention relates to host cells transformed with the vector system as well as to kits comprising the vector system or a host cell of the present invention. Furthermore, the present invention also relates to a method for producing a protein of interest.
