The method involves determining local compression achieved by repeated riding of a silo surface with a compressor vehicle. A position of the compressor vehicle is detected using optical and Global positioning systemdetermination during each riding of the silo surface and is fed to a controller together with detected sensor signals. The characteristics of agricultural goods in a horizontal silo are considered during determination of the compression. Dried substance content is considered during the determination of the compression.
