The method for the governable pumping of a fluid through a miniaturized flow path is carried out in such a way that the flow of fluid or its vapour in an active flow path section is coupled to a flow of heat, and during the operation of the pump a flow of heat is directed through the active flow path section by means of at least one controllable heat producing or heat consuming heating or cooling element acting on the active flow path section on one side. Independent claims are also included for the following: (A) a micropump for a fluid by which the aforesaid method can be carried out; and (B) uses for a micropump which include the maintaining of a governable or constant volume flow in an analytical microfluid system, or for the injecting or dosing of small amounts of a fluid.
