Process for treatment of ballast water aboard ships

A method of processing seawater aboard a ship is disclosed. The method comprises supplying seawater to a fresh water generator (30) for separating the seawater into fresh water and brine, and supplying the fresh water to ballast tanks (6) of the ship.
