Doubled Haploid Plant Production – Seed to Seed

The Seeker is looking for contract research organizations (CRO) or research institutes providing double haploid (DH) plants and seed production services. Specifically, Procurement is interested in identification of organizations with the capacity to generate high volumes of wheat, barley, winter oilseed rape and sunflower double DH seed and any capacity for DH seed production for soybean and rice, particularly Oryza indica.

Eligible CROs will:

• Demonstrate a current capability of doubled haploid plant production from seed to seed for one or more of the crop species of interest


• Provide the annual throughput needed for doubled haploid plant production volumes for one or more of the following:
  • wheat (20,000 - 50,000 DH plants/year)
  • barley (10,000 - 20,000 DH plants/year)
  • winter oilseed rape (10,000 - 40,000 DH plants/year)
  • sunflower (10,000 DH plants/year)
  • soybean (any capacity)
  • rice, particularly Oryza indica (any capacity)


• Provide information on their processes, including
  • DH production method, and
  • product tracking and quality controls to ensure products are DH and that the genetic identity of the germplasm/seed is authentic


• Describe guarantees in place to ensure DH seed delivery deadlines are achieved
