Agricultural Innovation Prize Deadline: 2014-02-28
Award: $100,000 Grand Prize

The USDA, in cooperation with 40 Chances, is out to find new ideas for addressing the challenges in agriculture and food systems. The competition will award $215,000 in prizes to students with the most promising innovations in agriculture. The grand prize winner will receive $100,000.

In addition to the financial support possible through the prize money, winners will have an important opportunity to network and interact with industry, government, and fellow academics on agricultural challenges. The judges will consider the following areas in proposals:

-Technology and risk assessment
-Creativity and originality
-Execution and strategy
-Market and customer understanding
-Team structure and dynamics
-Financial feasibility
-Social, environmental and food system impact
-Long-term viability
-Transdisciplinary approach
