Dan Piestun's Problem Solving Experience:
- using tumor cell lines and fibroblast I demonstrated the oncogenic potential of the gene Nanog with the aid of MMLV (retrovirus) transformation vector, and evaluation of transcripts through Afymetrix microarray platform and bioinformatic tools.
- I delivered bioinformatic solutions in a "bioinfo-hub", uniting four independent researach groups working on Rose petal genomics, ,proteomics, metabolomics and genetic engineering of flower plants.
- I have developed a succesful transformation system for Citrus plants through Agrobacterium tumefaciens
- I developed molecular markers aimed for fertility traits in mammals (Bos taurus) for MAS.
- I practiced protoplast culture and viral transfection with CTV, regularly on Nicotiana benthamiana protoplast culture of control and transgenic lines to study viral dynamics in viral tolerant candidate plants.
