- Developed an optimal tissue stabilization system for magnetic resonance image guided breast biopsies under a research contract from the Centre for Surgical Invention and Innovation. Applied shape optimization techniques to a computational model simulating the breast tissue deformation during biopsy needle insertion. The optimal design was prototyped using MRI compatible technology and evaluated using food grade animal tissue.
- Developed a pneumatic MR compatible actuator that can be used to develop mechatronics systems and robot end-ef ectors that are required to run in the close proximity of the imaging volume. The actuator features four axial pistons acting sequentially on a wobble/nutation gear constrained by a flexible joint. The motor was prototyped from ABS like material using rapid prototyping.
