The 3D-printed Bhulk mountain bike offers an eco-friendly alternative to current models with its plant-based, recyclable frame.

Developed by the Italian design studio Eurocompositi, the Bhulk proof-of-concept frame is made from PLA, a biopolymer derived from plant sources. The PLA filaments are melted and layered using fused deposition modeling to form the frame, a process the team claims still uses less energy than other commonly-used 3D polymers.

The Bhulk bike was recently awarded the 2015 Eurobike Award.
