Algae-Based Nanobots Deliver Medication

Algae-Based Nanobots Deliver Medication
Nov-24-17
Biodegradable nanobots made of algae could deliver medication directly to parts of the body that generally difficult to reach.

The biodegradable bots are made up of spirulina algae covered in an iron coating, which allows the bot to be magnetically directed while also dictating the biodegradation time. The nanobots’ ability to degrade differs from other drug-delivery systems, and according to the team, from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, the bots could also be used to detect diseases as well a treat them.
