Antimicrobial Gorilla Glass

Antimicrobial Gorilla Glass
Jan-08-14
Smartphones may soon become a bit more hygienic with Corning’s development of the world’s first antimicrobial Gorilla Glass.

Corning created the glass by embedding their Gorilla Glass 3 which ionic silver, which has the ability to continuously kill bacteria, as well as mold, mildew, algae and fungi, for the lifetime of the device. The Antimicrobial Gorilla Glass remains as clear and scratch resistant as the company’s other cover glass offerings and has no significant effect on the mechanical or dielectric properties of the glass. The glass could also be incorporated into other functions, creating an antimicrobial coating for other frequently-touched surfaces.

According to research, the average phone carries more dangerous bacteria than the flush lever of a public toilet.
