Chainmail Tires Could Travel Mars

Nov-25-17 The innovative chainmail-like superelastic tires from NASA are made for the rugged terrain of Mars.

Inspired by the design of chainmail armor, the tires are made up of an extremely durable memory alloy able to undergo a ten percent deformation and still keep its shape. The new tires are not only much less prone to damage and impossible to puncture, they also offer better traction and can transport more cargo at higher speeds.
