Chips Packages Help Purify Water

Chips Packages Help Purify Water
Sep-16-14
A student-designed water purifier made of plywood and chip bags could bring an affordable and simple water-cleaning solution to developing areas.

Designed by students from the University of Adelaide in collaboration with ChildFund Australia, the water purifier was initially made from higher quality materials. After it was tested and approved, it was then reinterpreted with materials easily found in undeveloped areas. The final form consists of a segment of glass piping placed in a reflective trench that directs the sun's heat onto the water to kill any pathogens within. Made of plywood, a glass tube and a plastic sheet coated in the same reflective material used on the inside of chip packages, the total cost to build the water purifier was only about $60.

The system can treat just over 10 gallons of water in four hours, and its modular design allows it to expand to meet the need of the community.

Water is highly contaminated these days. You can not drink a glass and be sure that it is germ free. No, it is not, that is why you need products like chips packages and water purifiers to have clean water to drink
