Current face masks completely cover the nose and mouth which makes it impossible for the deaf or hard of hearing to see the way your mouth is moving when you talk.
This is quite a handicap for people who rely on visual cues to help them understand what a speaker is saying.
A college student has proposed a design that incorporates a clear screen in the mouth area to alleviate this problem.
The new design would also help regular patients to feel a better connection with caregivers; at least you could see a reassuring smile.
