Embrace Watch Measures Stress, Warns of Seizures

Nov-29-14 The Embrace watch monitors the electrical currents in the skin to warn epilepsy sufferers—or their family— of an impending seizure.

Designed to be attractive as well as functional, the Embrace is equipped with electrodes on the inside of the band, a thermometer and an accelerometer. The electrodes monitor the electrical current beneath the skin (the electodermal activity), which will spike when a seizure is imminent. The wristband also detects rapid body temperature change and the signature shaking of an epileptic seizure. When a seizure is detected, the Embrace will send an alert to a paired smartphone, which will trigger a message to designated contacts.


The Embrace has already far exceeded its funding goal on Indiegogo.
