A new, portable audio-video headset may replace police dashboard recording equipment.

Police have been using dashboard cameras mounted on their vehicles to back up courtroom testimony. Now the company that makes the taser gun has invented a camera police can wear on the side of their heads to record audio and video of their actions.

The lightweight, wearable Taser AXON consists of an audio-video earpiece imager, speaker, and microphone. The unit can be integrated into existing radio communications through a standard 3.5-mm headphone connection. This gives officers two-way communication on top of full audio-video recording, including color and low-light infrared images.
