Hipster Helps Dogs with Hip Dysplasia

Hipster Helps Dogs with Hip Dysplasia
Sep-18-14
The Hipster was created to help treat hip dysplasia—a painful condition that causes a dog's hip joint to pop out of place.

Hip dysplasia is a heritable and common skeletal problem among dogs. The condition causes the area between the femur bone and pelvis to develop abnormally, which can in turn cause the bone the pop out of joint. To comfort and rehabilitate dogs suffering from hip dysplasia, Galia Weiss designed the Hipster, a lightweight harness with a rigid frame and network of Velcro straps. The harness and straps provide a pulling force that helps to keep the joint from disconnecting while also strengthening the hip muscles to help alleviate the condition after only one month of wear.
