MusicGloves Lets Patients Play Their Therapy

MusicGloves Lets Patients Play Their Therapy

The MusicGlove offers a new, and cost-efficient, way to help improve hand function by having the patient play a musical game similar to GuitarHero.

The glove, developed by Flint Rehabilitation Devices, is equipped with sensors that detect the fingers' movements as the user moves their hand in response to the game's music and scrolling on-screen notes. During the course of the game, the users are called upon to perform different hand motions, such as a pincer grip and key pinch grip, which are crucial to regaining use of the hand after neurological damage. The system comes complete and ready to play—with a tablet for home use or a 21- monitor for use in clinics—and its stand-alone design and diagnosis capabilities require minimal intervention from hospital staff.
