Myris Logs You In With a Look

Myris Logs You In With a Look
Nov-21-14
Soon, entering your password may be as easy as looking at your computer, thanks to the Myris device that recognizes individuals based on the pattern of their iris.

Developed by Eyelock, the first iterations of the Myris will be sold as a stand-alone device, but the technology will soon be built into home laptops. The current version, a palm-sized cylinder that connects to a PC via USB, is equipped with a mirror and a small camera lens. When a log-in is required, the user holds the Myris so that both eyes are visible in the mirror. Upon authorization, a green light will illuminate and the software will log the user in.

According to the company, the Myris technology delivers much less false positives than Apple's fingerprint reader, and it can tell a real eyeball from the image of one.
