Nike has developed a quick-cooling hood designed to help athletes recover faster and get back in the game.
Developed at Nike’s Sports Research Lab (NSRL), the hood was designed in collaboration with Ashton Eaton, a champion decathlon athlete. Water is held within the inner layer of the hood, while a semi-rigid frame wraps over the top of the head and the eyes, holding the cooling material in place. The face is more sensitive to temperature changes than other body surface areas, and so the hood could offer high-performance athletes instant and efficient cooling.
