RainHouse Creates Fresh Water from Rain

Part of the Water of Life project, the RainHouse is made of a special bio-concrete that allows it to filter rain water.

Developed by IVANKA, the concrete is both PH neutral and bio-compatible with water, which enables it produce sun-distilled water naturally. A 1:1 scale model of the RainHouse was built to demonstrate the concept during Milan week, featuring a bio-concrete roof that channels the rain water into a bio-concrete storage tank.

The team believes that rain water is the purest source of freshwater, and that their bio-concrete technology could democratize fresh water supplies by providing "access to affordable clean water for small and big scale users, from families to big companies, leaving the smallest possible ecological footprint in the process."
