Scarvoid Foam Reduces Scars with Tumeric

Scarvoid Foam Reduces Scars with Tumeric
Aug-19-19
The Scaravoid wound-healing foam is infused with turmeric to help reduce scarring.

Developed by a team of Empa researchers, the porous Scaravoid foam is made up of a biocompatible and biodegradable polymer structure designed to encourage cell migration and growth. To help reduce scarring, the team also added curcumin, a compound from turmeric known for its anti-inflammatory characteristics, to the material. The material could be cut to size and applied to wounds, where the curcumin would be released over time as the polymer breaks down.
