Jul-21-12 The Marine Drone is an ocean-going search and destroy robot created to rid the ocean of garbage.

The Marine Drone was envisioned as part of a project headed by Elie Ahovi, a student at the French International School of Design. The drone is designed to patrol the water autonomously, drawing plastic and garbage into its onboard net. A sonic emitter system would warn away aquatic life, ensuring that it would net only garbage, and it could be cleaned out by a crew back at base when its collecting compartment becomes full.
