Sweat-Based Security System

Sweat-Based Security System
Nov-12-17
A novel new biometric security system would rely on the user’s own sweat for authentication.

Still in the concept phase, the sweat-based system takes advantage of the fact that a person’s perspiration can be as individualized as their fingerprints. Developed by chemist Jan Halámek from the University of Albany, the system would first monitor the user’s sweat over time to build up a personalized profile. After the ‘enrollment period’ has passed, the user can be identified simply by holding or wearing the device.

Besides offering a new method of authenticity, the sweat-based system could also benefit people with disabilities that affect their dexterity or memory.
