Therapik Fights Bites with Heat

Aug-20-12 The Therapik bite reliever uses a precise application of heat to deliver itch and pain relief from the bites of over 20,000 different venomous creatures—mosquitoes included.

The Therapik design takes advantage of the fact that most insect venom is sensitive to heat, and can be deactivated if subjected to temperatures of a precise range. The device delivers the heat via a small bulb at the tip, which is pressed against the bite for as long as the bite-sufferer can stand, denaturing the proteins that cause the itch and inflammation.

Therapik has received FDA approval and has been found effective in independent tests.
