Thermal Touch Creates Touchscreens From Body Heat

Thermal Touch Creates Touchscreens From Body Heat
May-23-14
Designed to make it easier to interact with devices like Google Glass, the Thermal Touch technology from Metaio combines thermal imaging and augmented reality to turn almost any object into a touchscreen.

The technology works using a pair of video cameras and our own body heat. A standard camera monitors where the user is looking, while a thermal imaging camera resisters when the user presses or touches the object. Touching an object will leave a bit of body heat behind, triggering the HUD to interpret it as a touchscreen and allowing the user to access digital content.

Although the technology is a few years from being integrated into interactive eyewear, a version of it has already been built into a tablet.
