Wetsuits Deter Shark Attacks

Wetsuits Deter Shark Attacks
Jul-22-13
A new wetsuit for surfers and swimmers helps prevent shark attacks by making the wearer invisible and seemingly less tasty to sharks.

Developed by Shark Attack Mitigation Systems (SAMS), the two wetsuit styles help deter attacks in two different ways. One, designed for swimmers and divers, uses a Cryptic Pattern that causes the wearer to blend into the background, making them difficult for sharks to see. The other, for surfers, features a Warning Pattern that mimics the patterns of untasty fish, which could cause the shark to hesitate before attacking and give the wearer a chance to escape.

The SAMS team has also developed a line of patterned skins and stickers for surfboards, scuba tanks and other gear.

Mainly 2 thing makes a shark to attack people, first as defending when they are scared of s.t, second they think that perhaps this is a delicious bite, lets taste it and literally that small bite could easily caused death. Thus I think, assuming these two hypothesis are true, there are two solution for shark attack, first inventing suits that sharks get the feeling that this creature (HUMANS) is not dangerous and does not threaten me and my little shark family, such as designing it like fish scales or even like shark skin; second the suits must not look like tasty to them by using some materials in it which emit bad smell to them or using color which is not attractive to them and so on.

When you'r on a surf board, no matter what, Shark will attack. One small taste is enough to kill human. I wouldn't try this.

Sharks are attracted to the noise and movement swimmers and surfers make when in the water. They can also detect the heartbeat and electrical impulses of swimmers and surfers. Camouflage may help them to escape but I doubt it will avert an attack.
