Vinho Verde is a wine with its own characteristics (high levels of acidity and carbon dioxide), which makes its storage very difficult in containers whose material is not glass, at least at affordable costs. Tests have been made with Bag-InÂBox (BIB - a cardboard box with a bag inside where the wine is introduced), but it loses quality and its Vinho Verde typical profile, because there is a loss of carbon dioxide. Tests for PET packaging have also been done, but the period within which the wine keeps its properties was much lower than what happens with the glass.
The Client wants to find a solution that enables them to provide Vinho Verde wine in a 1.5L, 2L and 3L capacity, so that the cost per liter of the package can be significantly lower than the cost per liter they currently have with 0.75 L glass bottles.
As it happens with regular Bag-in-Box, with this new solution it should be possible to store wine that is not consumed, keeping its properties for a reasonable period of time (at least 1 week after opening the package).
Present a packaging solution for large capacity (1.5 L, 2L and/or 3L), that allows Client to have at least the same return in this product that they already have in 0.75 L glass bottles. It would also be desirable to have some of the other advantages of the Bag-in-Box (lighter, cheaper, flexible formats and capacities, keep wine characteristics after opened).
