The collaboration between Pipeway and Petrobras is used as an example of how companies can help each other, and reduce the chances of unforeseen pipeline bursts and corrosion. In the 19th and 20th century, most energy initiatives regarding environmental protection were closed innnovation initiatives. The author concludes that the time has come for more aggressive safeguard systems that require collaboration between companies.
