Douglas Marsh
I love solving problems, particularly if they save energy, reduce waste, improved operating and/or environmental conditions and basically get more output for less input.

Areas Douglas Marsh is Knowledgeable in:

Physical Asset Management - requirement for investment, design & lifecycle
Asset Information Management
Financial Assessment of Risk & Opportunties
Sustainable Development
I am interested in Risk Management in Healthcare

Techniques Douglas Marsh Uses:

Hazard & Operability Studies (HAZOP)
Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (FMEA & FMECA)
Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM)
Fault Tree Analysis
Root Cause Analysis (various methods)
Process Mapping
Asset Health Review

Douglas Marsh's Problem Solving Skills:

  1. Integrating processes, events and actions into big picture maps
  2. Asset Information Management
  3. Maintenance Management
  4. Physical Asset Management
  5. Spares Inventory Management
  6. Risk Management
  7. Financial Assessment of Risk

Douglas Marsh's Problem Solving Experience:

  1. I have designed and developed a pumping plant speed control concept that satisfies end of system pressure in all pumping conditions with no transducer feedback to reduce leakage and energy consumption.
  2. I have developed an asset health review process that enables a balanced scorecard display that is driving down the cost of owning a fleet of assets whilst service performance is increasing.
  3. I have developed an integrated physical asset management map that has helped identify areas of process overlap, gaps and wasted effort in different asset intensive industry sectors.
  4. I have co-designed water treatment plant failsafe systems that prevent a plant from pumping untreated water into supply in multiple failure event scenarios.
  5. I developed a patient pathway (healthcare) process mapping technique and combined it with a risk management process to graphically represent areas of high risk. The result was a fundamental review of working processes and procedures that has reduced risks to patients, staff and the hospital.
  6. I reviewed a proposed water treatment plant design that was going to cost £4.2m (uk sterling). I challenge design criteria and build assumptions which resulted in a final build cost of £1.6m.
  7. I have designed a toriodal water cooled and graphite oxygen burner mounting plate and shield with an operational life in excess of 6 months to replace a water cooled box design that catastrophically failed on a weekly basis.
