Jonathan Mullen's Problem Solving Experience:

  1. Designed shopping carts with automatic brakes when I saw one get blown into a car and how much damage it created. I figured the insurance claims alone nationwide were enough reason to find an answer. I designed a retrofit version and a factory version. They were not the same.
  2. Solved a budget problem with a roof that was allowing major radiant heat. The interior ceiling was a nice hardwoods so I went over the three tab asphalt roofing with slabs of one inch foam. The eves I have attached a one inch treated pine strip. I then lay whiter aluminum channel roofing over it. No more radiant heat. Cost was about 2,500 US. I figure in cooling alone the savings recoup in 3 years.
  3. Designed a special machine trap for capturing the invasive Lionfish in the atlantic so as to harvest the meat and account catch for bounty. The numbers work.
  4. Wanted to find an economic way to build load barring reef structures in the ocean and came up with a system whereas the ocean itself provides 92% of the material.
  5. Needed to find a way to move volumes of material her in belize where only shallow water access was possible. Designed a series of flat barges connecting like a snake the spreads the load out.
  6. Needed to reduce the cost of building floating platforms as the webbing and matting in fiberglass is so costly. Have had success using webbing only at the seams and one layer of glass resin followed by coats of bottom paint and then concrete paint. So far no signs of deterioration or faulting. This over plywood structures.
