Joseph Butler's Problem Solving Experience:

  1. While attending Lander University, I presented a proposal to the Lander University Retention Counsel to solve the problem of decreasing retention rates of students. The problem, according to my proposal, was a lack of learning skills being taught to students prior to entering college. I found through research that only15-18% of the population in terms of academic achievement use more than half of the cognitive processes involved in learning, leaving the other 82-85% in need of training to access the full range of cognitive processes. I proposed to offer series of seminars designed to demonstrate learning techniques in an interactive atmosphere.
