Kathy Wiemers's Problem Solving Experience:

  1. I led a team of engineers in developing a process for polysilicon removal with a plasma etch tool.
  2. I developed a new method to measure fluorescence anisotropy using the target molecule as the reference. Designed spectrometer system, interfaced shutter and motors with computer, and wrote programs in HPVEE to control hardware, collect data and calculate anisotropy and statistics.
  3. I analyzed and solved plasma etch tool problems for stripping photoresist from silicon wafers. I worked alone and as part of a team.
  4. For a startup dealing with intellectual property, I determined if a specific technology was worth pursuing through research into the market and similar markets.
  5. I designed a report template to make report writing more efficient and consistent within the department.
  6. I worked with a colleague to design and deliver a writing course to teach good writing to scientists in a biotechnology company. The company presented us with their issues and we developed a customized course to address those issues.
  7. I worked with a startup in alternative fuels to determine if the current chemistries for solid state hydrogen fuel storage were viable and cost efficient.
