Anything related to Geography. I am particualrly knowledgeable in Remote Sensing, GIS, Photogrammetry, Mapping, and Glaciology. I have a good knowledge of subjects such as SAR interferometry, Ground-based photogrammetry and image analysis. I am very interested in helping people develop environmentally sustainable solutions to problems.
Techniques Ken Whitehead Uses:
I visualise the results I want to get, then I look at what information and resources I have available and berak the problem down into a series of small steps - I then tackle each of the steps separately, first developing a working prototype and then a complete solution.
Ken Whitehead's Problem Solving Skills:
- Aerial and ground Based Photogrammetry - I have developed glacial monitoring programs using ground-based photogrammetry
- Surveying - I have worked as a surveyor for a number of years and was a registered Professional Land Surveyor in South Africa
- Remote Sensing - I have worked as an image analyst for many years and have taught Remote Sensing at a post graduate level
- Geography - My background is in Geography and I have taught geography courses at university level
- GIS - I have used GIS in much of the work I have done and taught courses in GIS at university level
- Synthetic Apperture Radar (SAR) interferometry - I am currently using this technique to derive glacial velocities in the Arctic
- Glaciology - I am studying the glaciaology of the Canadian Arctic as part of my PhD
- Studied the effects of Mountain pine Beetle - I have used Remote Sensing to map the spread of the Mountain pine Beetle outbreak
- Mapping - I currently run a mapping business. I have produced a variety of map products in the past, both for general sales and

Ken Whitehead's Problem Solving Experience:
- I developed an entire new processing methodolgy for georeferencing imagery from airborne sensors and producing custom mosaics.
- I developed a system for detecting Mountain Pine Beetle damage from airborne imagery, using empirical probabilities.
- I have developed a new processing methodolgy for ground-based photogrammetric configurations using custom algorithms I developed myself.
- I have developed a glacial monitoring program using a combination of ground-based photogrammetry and SAR interferometry to derive both spatial and temporal glacial velocity variations.
