Lena Gerwick
I have to ability to step from a global perspective and zoom in on the problem at hand. I have unique perspectives because of my background in various fields. It is always amazing to me how often people are extremely myopic because of their one track background.
I also want to point out that through my experience working as a nurse in Sweden as well as in the US I have a good grasp on the two different systems of health care and how each of the systems can benefit from learning from each other. Even though my expertise is now in science I would also have good imputs to companies trying to make healthcare more efficient and equitable.

Fish diseases
Drug development, natural products
Inflammation, innate immunity
Transcriptomics

First I step back look at the big picture then I zoom in on the problem drawing on my expereinces from several different fields. Lots of times I am able to solve one problem by drawing on an experience from a completely different field. This is really my strength that I have knowledge that spans from basic science to applied to clinical.
