Problem Solver

Michael Craner

Michael Craner
I believe I can solve problems in almost any space given some time to research and work with the technologists in the area. For example, I have a knack for interfacing with highly technical people in areas even outside my direct area of expertise, grasping the essentials of the problems they are facing and helping them resolve them. This skill has always helped me as a manager of highly technical people. I seem to be able to see the forest and enough of the trees to help them find their way out of the weeds! :)

Michael Craner's Problem Solving Experience:

  1. As a patent agent capturing others inventions in a fileable form, I contributed in many cases sufficiently to be named as a co-inventor.
  2. While working as an engineer, I helped AT&T find a solution to designing their DSP, the 3210, into a PC motherboard by developing a small module that coupled the DSP directly to the 386/486 CPU, saving at least a year and a half of their development time to get to proof of concept
  3. To meet the speed requirements of a laser altimiter for space applications, I created a parallel implementation of a pn code processor.
  4. As a patent evangelist for a company developing guides for interactive cable television, I invented or co-invented at least 40 patentable concepts in areas spanning video-on-demand to switched digital video to integrated television and videophone applications
  5. After developing a novel multiprocessor architecture for NAVY EMSP signal processing, I commercialized the device for application to airborne doppler weather radar applications for NASA and build a radar system around it.
  6. To aid in the adoption of electrical vehicles and raise money for charities, I created a marketing model involving "cooperative charities" and domain specific sponsors and applied the model to a project called the Renew America Roadtrip (www.renewamericaroadtrip.com). The project was billed as "America's first green, charity drive cross country in an all electric sportscar." We gained significant publicity for the event and pioneered this multiple charity drive a thon model and utilized various new media techniques to bring focus to the event, gaining up to four networks of press coverage in many of the states involved in the project.
