The main idea of this innovation is about the application of the robotic techniques to performing professional tasks: for survey purpose we are asked to measure the tonnage from hull rather than from drawings, this task, could be performed by this specific instrument in dry docks it requires a space settings around the hull and a connection to a software for displacement calculation.

To some extent, the same instrument could be used in reading physical curves or in taking record of passage.
