I am interested in sustainable materials and recycling, renewable energies, I am interested in solar power but I am not that knowledgeable about it at the moment.
Techniques Carol Miers Uses:
I know about these and also robust design for example but I might not always use them. Six thinking hats, brain storming, mind mapping, creative thinking techniques (natural world comparison, multifunction design), total design methodology (Pugh), Value engineering(I don't like this one!), QFD quality function deployment, but also evaluations of meeting the design concept and sketching solutions or visual doodling
Carol Miers's Problem Solving Skills:
Analogue circuit design, digital circuits especially for TV and Radio
Old style analogue design more than digital
Electronic design projects for ages 11-18 eg 555 chip projects
Telecommunications within the broadcasting industry
Product Design work for people with disabilities and the elderly
Writing about new electronic products when that product is supplied for review
Carol Miers's Problem Solving Experience:
I solved the vibrations problem on a portable chainsaw mill for use in the solomon islands but it was not manufactured due to lack of funds.
I taught 16 year old electronic product design in the UK including problem solving projects like a coin size sorter, a gadget to raise and lower miniature buckets with only 4.5v power etc
I designed a gadget using flexible plastic for avoiding hitting your finger when hammering in a nail
I designed a vacuum cleaner that used electrostatic precipitation but again it was not tested
