I employ essentially an iterative process since the challenges I join don't have a linear development.
I investigate a solution then I simulate its performance with the computer to check if it fulfill (and possibly exceed) the requirements, more often than not you have to go back and redesign a subsystem or process, sometime you go back to square one.
