I study a problem extensively, let it stew in my brain for some period, then a solution come to me. I then consider that solution as a starting point for a better solution. I continue that process several times. When I build something, I test it to identify weaknesses, failure is especially helpful, then I analyze the weakness and modify the design solution.

- I designed a large (40+ foot tall) Christmas light tree and have a patent on the design.
- I designed a screw extraction device that will extract screws that are stuck, but have critical parts of the head intact...patent was not allowed.
- I developed a unique use of a large (8 ft by 5.5 ft) beautiful slab of marble--I installed it on my study wall as a decoration.
