 Eight weeks official training in three microbiology laboratories of United States Geological Survey (USGS) Ohio, Michigan, Virginea, USA, 21st Jan to 16th March, 2009.The microbiology training comprised of Surface and Ground water sampling in the field, water and sediment samples processing and laboratory determination for bacteriological indicators (Total Coliforms, Fecal Coliforms, E-coli, Clostridium perfringens) by various membrane filtration and IMS/ATP techniques, determination of viral indicators (coliphages) by USEPA Methods 1601 & 1602 including quality assurance techniques (IPR, IDC) for both methods, Cryptosporidium & Giardia determination by IMS & Ultra filtration (USEPA method 1623) End point and Quantitative PCR, Gel electrophoresis and imaging, DNA Quantifications, Reveal Test for E-coli as well as Iron extraction for bioremediation. www.¬peoplelandandwat¬er.¬gov/¬usgs/¬index.¬cfm
